Allen Capital Private Equity is the investment manager of the Allen Capital Special Situation Fund No.1. The purpose of the Fund is to focus on a highly specialised private equity market niche – special situation or event-driven investing. The term ‘special situations’ is used as an umbrella term for a variety of investment styles variously described as restructurings, reorganisations, turnarounds or distressed situations.

With a bias towards enhancing business performance, we are ideally suited as investors and partners in businesses that are in transition, especially those addressing significant changes in their competitive landscape. We seek to partner with strong management teams, providing the opportunity for managers to invest directly in acquired companies and to participate in equity-based incentive programs. We are experienced, however, in acquiring companies that require near-term changes in senior management due to generational transitions or operating difficulties.

We are particularly interested in businesses that are experiencing transition or transformation problems encountered through various stages of their growth process. While solid financial performance at the time of acquisition is desirable, we are comfortable with turnarounds and restructurings where companies require strategic, operational and financial re-orientation to realise their full potential.
